PASSERIFORMES: Ptilonorhynchidae
Ptilonorhynchus guttatus
Having a bower at the edge of the busy Olive Pink Botanic Gardens car park and being visited continuously by birdwatchers has inured this Western Bowerbird to the presence of humans.
I had a telephoto lens on my camera as I sat under the bushes near the bower. The lens was useless much of the time during visits by the bird as it was happy to approach to within minimum focusing distance.
My photography was curtailed but I certainly enjoyed watching the bird attending to its bower and the surrounds.
